Firm as a Farm---and your Automated Home Business

During my recent trip out west to visit family as I mentioned, we encountered a lot of bad weather including tornados. While it was very exciting, it was also tragic to see the loss of property. As it turned out, one of these tornados destroyed part of my ancestral home.

The tornado hit a farm where my grandfather who was an immigrant from Austria, raised my father.

I had spent a lot of time growing up on that farm. Many buildings with many memories attached to them were wiped off of the map.

Yet the memories themselves persist. They endure. The dream endures also. And so my current family that lives there will rebuild.

When you create an automated home business you are building a dream. Maybe not substantial in terms of land and holdings like a big farm, but still a real entity that can create a road to your dreams.

When something comes along to set you back, there is less visible to “rebuild” which is why you need to have your dreams firmly in mind and well written out.

When your dreams are as firm as a farm you will have the soil to build your automated home business successfully.
You can do it.

The Hidden Tornado and Your Automated Home Business

I recently was on vacation visiting family. A few days ago we were driving out west in Kansas when we discovered we were driving into a wall of thunderstorms which were spawning several tornadoes. We were in contact with various weather sources through friends and radio as we drove somewhat blindly west towards the storms.

When you’re driving down the road in the night out west, it’s not clear when to keep going forward and when to pull over to the side of the road and seek shelter. We finally did seek shelter in a church basement for a few hours and then continued our drive out west and did arrive safely at our family’s home a few hours late---our children had quite a story to tell!!

Later the next morning my wife and I were walking around the small town my folks live in and discovered that there was a lot of tornado damage that most people in that town were not aware of. Indeed a tornado had skirted the town and caused minimal damage. 100 yards over and 50 feet lower and the town would have been devastated! It was sobering looking at the close call.

I thought about the close calls we have in life that seem or are catastrophes whether it be personal or business. Sometimes you have minimal damage and realize how bad it could have been. Sometimes the damage is devastating and you just have to pick up and start over. Most of the time we don’t even know how close a call we had --- the mercy of God has simply protected us.

So if you have had a devastating hit on your automated home business or a big setback, take courage like the survivors of the big tornados and start rebuilding. If you have had some storms but no real damage to your business, remember my story of the near miss of the tornado and be thankful that your life has serenely gone forward. Keep doing your best and give your automated home business your best creative effort every day.

Stressed Out and Your Automated Home Business

How is This Stress is Killing Me!!! ?

I saw 5 or 6 people today where stress was contributing to their condition in a big way. How is it that something that seems like the spice of life can also make us feel so bad? It goes from feeling a little jazzed because of “mild” stress to feeling totally frazzled because of “severe” stress.

What’s the difference? As I mentioned yesterday, one of the biggest factors is how big the gap is between the reality and the hope. Can you see a way to what you hope to happen or does the stress of the reality bury the hope?

But it also has a lot to do with what’s inside. How well are you living a life that is “stress proofing”? There are lots of things you can do to decrease how stress affects you, and they are all part of a wholistic lifestyle. That’s one of the reasons I say that wholistic health is absolutely crucial to your Automated Home Business.

Take the opportunity now to change how stress affects you, or even worse, makes you ill? Over the next several posts I will be teaching you some simple things to do to help make stress much less of an impact in your life and in your creation of an Automated Home Business.

Your Stress and Your Automated Home Business

Why am I all stressed out???!!

I saw a recent comic strip called “The Born Loser” where the wife admits to the husband that he is indeed a big source of stress in her life. He looks crestfallen. Then she says that “stress” has it’s good side and bad side and that he is the source of her “good stress”.

Not too far from the mark.

There are a lot of ways to define stress but the one I like the most is “the difference between your hopes and your reality”. Depending on how far that difference is affects how much stress you have and whether you consider a situation “stressful”.

When people start an Automated Home Business they often have no real game plan and so they have no idea of how their business is going to unfold. The less of a system and the less automated the business is, the more stress there is. But there is always stress!

But remember stress can be good---if the reality is not far from the hopes and if you can see a clear path from the reality to your hope.

What is even more stressful?? Not having enough money. Not having enough money always produces a lot of stress. I think it's better to plan for a little stress and create your home business rather than wait for the "shoe to drop" and experience the stress of being out of money.

That’s why everyone needs a “Plan B” for income and for most people I believe that an Automated Home Business is the very best “Plan B” to have and the best way to have a home business that doesn’t “stress you out”.

What Did You Say about my Metabolism??? -- and your Automated Home Business

What’s Wrong With My Metabolism??!----and your Automated Home Business

So what is this metabolic syndrome anyway?

For you new readers, this blog is devoted to the connection between good health and having an effective home business. I promote the concept of an automated home business as the best option for most busy people. I teach about the concept of good health being the same as “wholistic health”, healthy body, mind and spirit.

On the physical side a "huge" problem that has developed in the last 30 years is the “metabolic syndrome”. It is largely responsible for the obesity and diabetes epidemics we are experiencing along with a host of other problems I won’t bore you with.

It also robs you of energy. That’s why it is a key issue in developing an effective home business.

What if your energy level somehow doubled? What would you do with that spare energy? Well if you were working on an automated home business you would have a lot more creativity to throw at the business and a lot more enthusiasm -- this is important in anything where you can anticipate obstacles, and you surely will have obstacles in developing any kind of business.

In short, metabolic syndrome is a situation where your body becomes resistant to your own insulin. This causes your body to make a lot more insulin to overcome this resistance, because the body does not like high blood sugars and keeping the blood sugar normal is the job of insulin.
In this next series of presentations I will go over some of the key points of metabolic syndrome and give it to you in “bite sized” (pun intended) amounts of info so as not to overwhelm. The key here is to be as healthy as you can for many reasons but also to have an effective automated home business.

Hard Work and your Automated Home Business

Hard Work in the Info Age

Several years ago when I was a child I loved to watch the Beverly Hillbillies, a comedy that was popular then. Granny, a transplanted Hillbilly living in Beverly Hills brought some of her backwoods common sense to many situations and one day she decided to bring her version of health care in the neighborhood.

She hung out her shingle and started doctoring.

Her solutions to the pampered and underactive women she saw as “patients” was a lot of hard physical work. And it worked! People got better. Of course the doctors who had been treating these ladies were none too pleased as they no longer needed professional medical care. They had cured themselves by hard work!

Unfortunately that won’t work now---hard work in the info age doesn’t use the body much except as a torso to hold the head that is thinking and the hands that are typing. That kind of hard work NEEDS the kind of hard work that Granny gave as her prescription.

If you want to be successful in your Automated Home Business, you need the balance of a goodly amount of physical work, or in lieu of that, enough physical exercise. It’s absolutely crucial to your wholistic health.

How Ho Ho Ho's make your Automated Home Business Better

Joy as therapy.

Laugh A Lot --- Don’t take yourself too seriously

One of the keys to wholistic health is having the right attitude about life. You can't control what happens to you---but you can control how you react. “Even the best laid plans . . .go astray”. Sometimes you try to do everything right, but it turns out completely differently from your plan. One of the reasons for this is that ultimately we aren’t in control---God is. We like to pretend that we are, and there are some weird training programs that suggest that you are “the master of your destiny”.

Sure, what you decide to do, where you aim your will and the goals you aim for are all crucial. But in the end you don’t control all of the details and you don’t control many of the variables---so you can’t control the outcome. You can only affect it. What you can do is consistently do your best. You are always in control of your attitude. I suggest “an attitude of gratitude”.

When you don’t have the outcome you want, having a sense of humor really helps. Being able to laugh at yourself helps your health of body, mind and spirit.

Did you know that a few belly laughs, a few HO HO Hos will actually produce release of seratonin in your nogin? People take Prozac to raise their seratonin levels! You can do it with a good sense of humor and a “healthy” laugh.

So when you approach life like this, you will help your Automated Home Business to succeed. Don’t just stand there, Laugh!!

Don't "Weight" to do Your Automated Home Business

Weight Training and Automated Home Business---What’s the Connection?

I want to “weigh in” on some of the comments I see in the media about the value or lack thereof of strength training. Strength training is a bit confusing to people, and there are lots of different programs out there that suppposedly help people get stronger. Some are good, some stink.

Research at places like the Cooper Clinic is showing that strength training becomes as important and even more important than aerobic exercise the older you get.

So if you’re 20 and in great shape, this doesn’t apply to you. But if you’re over 28, you are already loosing muscle faster than you’re making it----unless you’re doing something special to make it! That’s where strength training comes in.

Did you know that people who are strong have better endurance? Better posture?
What do you think that would do to your ability to happily spend time in front of the computer working at your automated home business? Of course, it would help a great deal. How many people do you know who spend a lot of time typing and keyboard work who have a few symptoms like neck pain, arm pain or hand symptoms?

Well a good balanced strength program will help to prevent or treat these symptoms.
So don’t just stand there, “get strength”!

Spiritual Health and Making Money with an Automated Home Business---Is there a connection?

Spiritual Health and Making Money---Is there a connection?

Today I saw somebody who is way overweight, disabled from a work injury and broke because of the disability and lack of being able to find another job. She was also depressed.

She admitted that she has often sabotaged herself and when I suggested that there might be a bit of self hatred involved she sadly agreed. Her spiritual life is very important to her and she admitted that every night she would drown in guilt for how she had not taken care of herself during the day.

I taught her a simple and very ancient prayer that would help her to get her mind off of her stress and worry and onto God. Even as she learned how to make this a part of her life she became more peaceful--- and more hopeful. She could actually see the light at the end of the tunnel although she knew it was a long way off.

Her financial need is best met by an automated home business because she really can’t get out of the house to do a regular job. But she can’t do that business until she has “her head screwed on straight”. She has to experience really taking care of herself and loving herself before she can hope to be successful in an automated home business.

You see, the solution is a spiritual solution for a physical and a financial problem. There’s the connection. This is not about “get rich quick” schemes and misusing spiritual treasures for personal self gain. It’s about getting healthy in body and mind and spirit so that you can take care of yourself in the financial arena. That’s the connection between “Spiritual Health and Making Money”.

So Why is an Automated Home Business so Great?

What’s so great about an Automated Home Business? And What’s the connection to health?
Over the last several posts I have focused on one detail of physical health which was “glycemic index”. While as a scientist this is exciting stuff to me, I realize that most folks get a sort of blurred vision, falling asleep response. It just doesn’t seem connected to real life.

Well here is where I would like to make that connection: the healthier you are, the more effective you are. And that means in all areas of your life including your home business.
So what’s so great about an automated home business? First of all, it gives you another stream of income. It can become your main income if you want it to. Second, when it’s automated you don’t have to be good at all of the tasks of setting up your own business. That doesn’t mean that you delegate everything or else that wouldn’t be your business. But many of the time consuming chores of a home business can be done through automation. That IS great.

I’ve owned a “bricks and mortar” business with lots of employees. I’ve had all the joys and all the headaches of building that kind of dream. I think that building an automated home business from home is a lot more fun. And easier. And much less risky.

So to be my best at this personal enterprise, I have to pay attention to my health, all of my health: wholistic health. I will continue to teach you how to be healthy in a wholistic way.

Control Your Glycemic Index--Grow your Automated Home Business!

Low glycemic what? On my most recent post I introduced the concept of LGI, or Low Glycemic Index, eating. I said that it was just about the most important health choice to make. This is kind of hard to accept if you don’t understand LGI and may seem a bit like an overstatement.
Here is why LGI is so important. It appears that all chronic disease is related to one common denominator: inflammation on a low grade scale. We call this “micro inflammation”.
When you eat the opposite of LGI, or High Glycemic Index, you cause a big increase in inflammation. Everything is more inflamed: the arteries and everything they feed. That includes the heart, the brain---pretty important stuff!!
That’s why LGI eating is the cornerstone to good health. And that’s why it is the cornerstone of Wholistic Health, and the cornerstone of all of your health.
Because this blog is dedicated to showing the connection between good health and a successful home business, LGI is the most important health thing you can do to help you develop and maintain a good, long term, automated home business.
This can be a little confusing. Since I have been teaching this stuff for over 20 years, I can help answer questions you may have.
To your health and financial success.

Glycemic Index and Automated Home Business

Glycemic Index and Wholistic Health-----Glycemic Who?? Yes, the glycemic index is finally hitting mainstream. I've actually been studying this stuff for about 25 years and in the last 10 years the scientific community has been paying more attention. As I predicted, there are the "early adopters" and the "foot draggers".

So what does this all have to do with you, your health and your business? As I have been teaching, the health of your body is connected to the health of your business. You will not have the stamina of staying in the business in the long run if you don't feel well. Glycemic index is the main nutritional key to your physical health.

To put it very briefly, glycemic index describes how fast the blood sugar rises after you eat a food that is called a carbohydrate. Fats and Proteins don't have a glycemic index----but the whole average of the meal you eat does have one, and that is the key to physical health.

As you build your Automated Home Business, pay attention in great detail to glycemic index. If you're not sure what that means, I will be giving details over the next several days on this subject, because it is so crucial.

How the Sabbath Rest will help your Automated Home Business

When swimming against the current is resting. Here is a paradox or oxymoron. There are times when swimming against the current is actually resting. What do I mean? If you are constantly "achieving" something, you are never resting the mind or body outside of sleep.

One of the hardest things to do is "sharpening the axe". Abraham Lincoln was reported to have said that if he had 8 hours to chop down a tree he would spend most of that time sharpening the axe.

What most of us do is take a dull axe and burn up all our energy whacking at the problem but making very little progress. This time of refreshment, of nourishment of the soul and mind is what we call "sharpening the axe".

Actually, God thought this up a few thousand years ago. It's called "the Sabbath". Keeping the Sabbath rest is definitely "swimming against the stream". Sometimes everything in you wants to go out there (especially on a nice day) and "get something done". Instead of this Sabbath rest we offer our body a putrid poor substitute: we vege out in front of the TV frequently to "relax"

We actually need the Sabbath rest for our bodies, our minds and our spirits. As in all areas of wholistic health, the more we bring balance to ourselves, the more effective we will be in developing an effective and successful automated home business. So take your Sabbath Rest and charge up your batteries. Your financial freedom in a home based business is much more likely to happen.

Swimming Against the Current---How to Star. And how your Automated Home Business fits in

Swimming against the current---- wholistic health. So, now you're committed to not being just a "floater". You're going to actively go against where the current wants you to drift. So what do you do first? What's the most important thing to do?

Well, here's an example of swimming against the current: the first thing to do is spiritual, not physical. We used to have a sign in our living room when I was in school that said "Don't just do something, Stand there!" The idea is that we can waste a lot of energy going off in the wrong direction. The proverbial "climbing the ladder" where you finally get to the top and discover that it's leaning against the wrong wall.

So the first step is spiritual activity. This is where you discover your long term goals, discover your priorities and discover the true desires of your heart, and not just the garbage that the world has deposited on you covering up the desires of your heart. In other words, make sure the gun is aimed at the right target before you shoot. I am absolutely positive that this requires a lot of prayer. That's how you really discover what's in your heart.

After this initial preparation (which is hard---it IS swimming against the current) you are then able to lay plans and the steps to take to get where you want to go.

And if the place you want to go is to create an additional income, this is a particularly important step. This is where you will gain the discernment to discover the right automated home business for yourself but also gain the courage to take the steps to go after this goal.
